Pre-Requisite Technology
Skills

Students will need to have a basic understanding of
computers and what the Internet is and the basic functions of a browser (e.g.,
URL's, Back and Forward buttons).
Materials
Computer lab, AverKey (optional), access to Internet, paper and pencils

Students who have trouble reading may need to install and use ReadPlease (can be downloaded from http://readplease.com/) so that the material will be read for them.
Procedures
1. In class, discuss the basic features and functions of computers and the Internet.
2. You can go through the computer quiz as a class in the computer lab (or with an Averkey in a one-computer classroom). Have students do the quiz as a whole class, with a small group, a partner, or independently.
3. When students have done the quiz on the computer, give it to them again but this time have them write their answers on paper. Collect them when done.
Assessment
Students turn in the paper with their answers to the computer quiz questions. This can be graded if the teacher so desires.
