Christmas Cards

 

Standards: Technology 1, 2, 4; Language Arts W-E1, W-E6

 

Objectives

·        Academic: To practice reading and following instructions, and to learn the writing form of a greetings card;

·        Technological: To learn about the bluemountain.com site and email.

 

Pre-requisite Technology Skills

Student should be able to open Internet sites and type.

 

Materials

·        computers with Internet access;

·        my home and school email addresses;

·        students’ floppies with their digital photos;

·         http://www.bluemountain.com

·        computer instructions (Attachment 1).

 

Procedures

Students access the Internet site and follow instructions on the site.  They will need to choose the card, write down the addressee’s name, carefully copy my two email addresses into the sender and recipient’s lines, and write a greeting to their parents.  They can insert their photos with the signature.

 

Assessment

Students’ cards are graded as I receive them in the email for their format and conventions. 

 

 

Attachment 1--Computer Assignment

1.      Go to the Internetà http://www.bluemountain.com

2.      Click on a card and fill in your parents’ names, your name and my 2 email addresses:

Recipient: kengel0@aol.com

Sender: kengel@amphi.com  (No spaces)

3.      Write Christmas greetings to your parents.  I will print out the card when I receive it.  Your can write more than one card.
