Butterfly Life Cycle

Students will use the Internet to observe and record the life cycle of the butterfly.

Pre-Requisite Technology Skills

How to use the mouse, including double clicking and scrolling down. Where to type the URL code, and how to use the keyboard.

Materials

Computer, access to the Internet, handout of life cycle chart and pencil. URL for teacher web site http://www.quia.com/pages/floydfun.html

 

 

Procedures

Students will access the Internet by double clicking on the Netscape icon. Students will type the URL code to access the teacher home page, then scroll down to the URL code for the life cycle of the butterfly and double click. Again, scroll down to “Home”  double click, and scroll down to Butterfly and Moth Life Cycle, and double click. Students can observe the stages of the Life Cycle by scrolling down.  They should record each stage on the graphic organizer provided by the teacher.

Assessment

Informal observation of students as they work, completed life cycle charts, and journal entries: What new fact did you learn about the life cycle of the butterfly?
