Cover page for a poetry packet

 

 

 

Objectives

 

Academic: Standard 2 W-E1. PO 1. Spell correctly

·        Students will create a cover page that will be the front page for a poetry packet.

 

Technology:

·        Standard 3 : 3T-E1. PO1. Use word processing editing tools to revise a document.

 

Pre-Requisite Technology

 

Students need to be able to find Student Writing Center on the desktop under Kid Stuff. Students should be familiar with basis keyboarding skills, and controlling a mouse.

 

Materials

 

Computer lab

Student Writing Center

Printer

Procedure

 

1.      Students will review the poems they collected and wrote for their poetry packet.  They will identify topics or themes that can be displayed on the cover of the packet.

2.      Students will go to the Student Writing Center, click on sign.

3.      Explore border options, chose one that reflects the theme or one that you like.

4.      Explore fonts and print size, center the title in the upper half of the page. 

5.      Use a different font size to type your name.  Place it in the lower right hand corner.

6.      Import a picture from the toolbar.  Use the mouse to place the picture and change the size so the title and the name are not displaced.

7.      Save to the hard drive to review by teacher before printing.

8.      Print.

 

 

 

Assessment

 

Evaluation will be based on student’s ability to incorporate the different parts of the cover in an appealing display.
