Pre-Requisite Technology Skills
Students need to know:
how to turn on the computer.
how to pull up the Internet from the desktop icon.
How to use the Bookmarks file.
Materials
Procedures
Students will work in partners. They will turn on the computer and access the Internet. They will go into bookmarks and find the Nash site. They will copy an Odgen Nash poem into a word document and find a picture from Clipart to compliment the poem. They will then type in their own poem on the same document, modeled after Nash’s poem. They will find another picture in clip art to compliment their poem.
Accommodations for Special Needs
My entire curriculum accommodates special needs, since I teach ESL, and one third of my students are also learning disabled. I will model the process of finding the site, copying and pasting, inserting pictures, and typing my own poem for the students. I will be close at hand for them to ask questions and get help when they try this on their own.
Assessment
I will observe students working through the site, while they are on the Internet. I will also read the completed documents they create.
