CyberHunt (an Instructor reproducible)

Objectives:

Academic -

    1. The students will use note taking skills to write down facts about Earth Day.
    2. The students will work cooperatively to complete a CyberHunt.
    3. The students will read and comprehend information from on-line data bases.

Technological -

    1. The students will employ search strategies to retrieve electronic information using Internet. (Tech. Standard 1).
    2. The student will utilize tools to locate information. (ie: mouse, back key, arrows). (Tech. Standard 1).

Pre-Requisite Technology Skills:

Ability to type in URL addresses

Ability to move around within the sites on the Internet.

Materials:

Computer with Internet access

TV and Averkeys

CyberHunt 6 (an Instructor reproducible), pencils

Procedures:

Review with students how to access the Internet when a variety of URL addresses are given.

Go over the format of the CyberHunt 6 with the students on the overhead.

Go through 2 or 3 questions with the students using the averkeys so they see the process.

Students work in pairs to complete the rest of the worksheet.

Assessment:

    1. Did the students work cooperatively and utilize note taking skills to complete the CyberHunt?
    2. Were the students able to read and comprehend information from on-line data bases?
    3. Were the students able to move around and access the information inside the Internet?

The completed CyberHunt will be the final assessment.
