Crazy Pattern Machine

Objectives:

Academic: The students will read and follow a series of directions and locate several Icons.

Technological: Standard 1 The children will use the mouse, identify icons, scroll, and use Bookmark.

 

Pre-Requisite Technology skills:

The students do not have to have any prior technical knowledge.

 

Materials: Computer

 

Procedures: See attached.

Assessment: Students success will be displayed by their ability to correctly follow directions and find their way around the game. (ie. Different levels of difficulty, different pattern symbols- colors, letters, numbers, and pattern shapes).

Students are directed and shown on projector to:

Click on this icon:

Students practiced mouse use by clicking on the appropriate shape to complete the pattern sequence.

After doing this several times, the students were instructed to stop play and watch the projector screen. The teacher modeled for the students how to increase difficulty and how to vary the types of patterns.

The students are allowed a brief question and answer period.

The students continue to use the mouse practice moving within the web page.

Closure: Students were given the opportunity to explore the game.
