Art of paper folding – Origami Butterfly
Objectives
Academic: Students will locate the Origami Butterfly web site, download the directions for making an Origami Butterfly, then make an Origami Butterfly in a small group.
Arizona State Standards:
Technological: Students will locate book marked information, and print the information.
State Tech. Standard 1 Students develop the essential technology skills for using and understanding conventional and current tools, materials and processes.
State Tech. Standard 2 Students know how to solve problems by using current technologiesto conduct research, analyze solutions and present results.
Pre-requisite Technology Skills The students should have prior instruction on how to open Netscape and locate a book marked website.
Materials A computer with Internet aaccess, a printer, and the web site :

Procedures 1. Teacher and students will discuss information and prior activities related to the "Monarchs on the Move" unit (Time for Kids magazine; October 8,1999 issue, Vol.5, No.5). 2. Open Netscape and type in web site: http://www.al.com/children/bflyori.htm 3. Once site is located students will print instructions for making an Origami Butterfly. 4. Group will reveiw instruction together. After completing a butterfly, student can color and decorate their butterflies.
Assessments Teacher observation and completed butterflies!
