Title-
Explore and Read Story on Children’s Storybook Site II
Objectives-
Academic- The student will be able to navigate to the selected site, read the story, answer the questions and select the next story they would like to read.
Technological- After teacher demonstration, the students will be able to log on to Netscape, select Bookmark and choose the "Children’s Storybooks" site, locate the correct icon and navigate to the story. They will be able to use the "back" and "forward" buttons when choosing new story to read.
Pre-requisite Technology Skills- Previous experience logging on to Netscape (covered in previous lesson with these students.)
Materials- Handout(see attached), Computers hooked up to the internet.
Accommodations for Special Needs- Model each step until the students are able to go through each step individually.
Procedures- (Go to "Children’s Storybook" site before working with the students in order to familiarize yourself with the story.) Give students a copy of the handout. Demonstrate how to open Netscape; (ask students "Who remembers how we log on? What do we need to do next?") Go to "Ms. Montes Bookmark and scroll down until "Children’s Storybooks." Click on it. Find icon of the elf and click on it. Students need to scroll down slowly to read, "Who did Patrick’s Homework?" with their partner. Scroll to the top again and read it once more. Retell story to partner and respond to questions on handout.
Assessment- Teacher observation- Were the students able to get to the site independently? Are they interacting appropriately? Are the questions on the handout answered in complete sentences and correct?
